We are currently recruiting for a Streetworks Strategy Manager for our gas engineering contract. The role will involve frequent travel and therefore there is flexibility for you to be based from our Slough, Hitchin or East Midlands sites.  


tRIIO specialise in delivering the design and contracting services for the UK’s gas distribution network and providing the best possible service to our customers.

Working in partnership with Cadent (formerly National Grid) to improve the supply of gas to millions of people living and working in North London and the East of England.


As Strategy Manager, you'll own and drive the contract’s strategy to reduce Streetworks failures (Section 74, FPNs and Defects), across the programme.

You will lead several high performing administrative teams, whilst developing a strategy to minimise and mitigate our failure costs.


The successful candidate will possess an excellent knowledge of the New Roads and Street Works Act, the Traffic Management Act, Permitry and Lane Rental schemes and the relative roles of HAUC and Street Works to enable them to anticipate and prepare the contract for changes and trends in NRSWA legislation and practices.

The role will include a broad range of responsibilities:

  • Take personal responsibility for the contract’s Streetworks performance. Act to improve it using a strategy involving education, training, processes and systems.
  • Manage and motivate the team to ensure optimal levels of productivity and that outputs are delivered.
  • Monitor changes in legislation, HA practices and case law and make sure the contract responds accordingly.
  • Act as a point of escalation to challenge high value Section 74 fines and to advise on prosecutions.
  • Develop and present MI to tRIIO Management and Cadent to explain opportunities to reduce costs.

We're looking for:
  • Demonstrable success managing a high volume Streetworks process
  • Strong leadership and people management skills with a sound knowledge of line management duties and responsibilities
  • Excellent knowledge of the New Roads and Street Works Act, the Traffic Management Act, Permitry and Lane Rental schemes and the relative roles of HAUC and Street Works UK
  • Highly numerate and confident analysing and presenting data
  • Good knowledge of EToN, SAP and OptiMUS
  • Experience of working within an integrated team comprising of Cadent and contract partner organisations
  • Experience of motivating a diverse team, setting clear objectives and providing effective feedback
