Privacy notice

Introduction and contact details

Skanska and its affiliates ("Skanska", “us”, “our”, “we”) uses the Skanska Recruit application globally for recruitment and to provide job opportunities in the country you are about to apply to as well as other countries and regions.

In this privacy notice, Skanska explains how your personal data is processed in connection with your application and your account in our candidate database Skanska Recruit. It is important to us that you feel confident that we treat your personal data with due care. We encourage you to take the time to read this privacy notice carefully.

Skanska AB (the parent company) is the data controller and thereby responsible for the processing of your personal data when you create an account. When you apply for a specific position with a specific Skanska entity, that Skanska entity is the data controller for the processing of your personal data during the continued recruitment process.

If you have any questions regarding the processing, you are welcome to contact us. You can contact either the local Data Protection Manager in the country you’re interested to work in or the Data Protection Manager at Skanska AB. The contact details for the local Data Protection Manager can be found on the local websites, and the contact details for the Data Protection Manager at Skanska AB can be found on the Group website, Skanska.com

The data we process and the purpose of such processing

We process the data you disclose in connection with your application and the creation of your account, such as contact details, CV, application letter, etc. In addition, data is collected during the recruitment process, in connection with interviews, tests and references. We may also, depending on the position you may be recruited for, request you to provide us with an extract from your criminal record.

The data is processed by Skanska globally for the purpose of:

(i) Reviewing your application for the specific position you have applied for;
(ii) Reviewing the information you have added to your account in connection with the recruitment of other positions that we consider appropriate for you, based on the information you have provided to us;
(iii) Contacting you to request that you update your personal data on a regular basis so we may best inform you about job offers that may be of interest to you;
(iv) Verifying your information towards public databases/registers (for certain positions), e.g. verifying if you are a politically exposed person; and
(v) Taking decisions in our recruitment processes.

Automated decision-making

Please note that some positions may be subject to certain requirements. A position may for example require you to be eligible to work in the country you have applied for or that you have a certain degree or similar. We may ask you to confirm that you fulfil such requirements by asking you a yes/no question. If you respond no to such question, your application may be rejected automatically. You are always entitled to challenge automated decisions, if you find them to be wrong, by way of contacting us via the contact details above.

Erasure of personal data

Your data will be erased when you delete your account. If you don’t delete your account it will not be included/shown in searches made after twelve (12) months of inactivity on the account. In some countries, local legislation requires us to store the data for a longer period of time, e.g. the US. If you apply for a position there your data will be stored until you delete your account). In other countries we may save the data for a longer period of time if we need it in order to defend a legal claim. If you have any questions regarding erasure, please contact us via the contact details described above.

Legal basis for our processing of your data

Your data is being processed, as explained above, on the basis of a so called balancing of interests. Balancing of interests means we have a legitimate interest to process your data in connection with our recruitment (both to the position you have applied for and other positions) and we do that in a way that does not interfere with your privacy.

Disclosure and transfer of data

Your personal data may be shared amongst the Skanska Human Resources functions in order to assess whether your profile fits future job postings. It may also be disclosed to parties assisting us in our processing, such as recruiters.

Since Skanska is a multi-national company, your personal data may be transferred across national borders, including to countries outside of the EU/EEA. Skanska’s intra-group data transfers are regulated in an internal agreement. Should we transfer your data to external companies outside the EU/EEA, we ensure that appropriate security measures have been taken, such as including the EU Commission’s standard contractual clauses for data transfers (which are available at the EU Commission’s website) in our agreements with the parties accessing personal data.

In connection with the processing of your personal data you have the following rights:
